Menlo Park, CA, October 29, 2015 (Newswire.com) - On October 31st, the horology experts at Stephen Silver begin the arduous process of adjusting their inventory of rare timepieces backward. Unique to Silicon Valley where smart watches are the norm, the mechanical complexity of luxury timepieces will take their horologists a full day to complete the shift to standard time throughout the store.
Daylight saving time officially comes to an end at 2am on November 1st. At Stephen Silver’s watch boutique, store horologists will be working over time on Saturday to re-set their extensive collection of rare mechanical timepieces. By the time the doors open on Sunday morning, each watch will be back on standard time.

The U.S. and Europe adopted Daylight Saving Time in World War I in an effort to conserve fuel needed to produce electric power. In the face of modern environmental concerns, The Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. by two weeks in spring and a week in fall.
